Pharmacology & Properties

Ester Type: Phenylpropionate — a relatively short ester for nandrolone, resulting in faster onset and shorter duration compared to longer esters like decanoate. 

Half-Life / Active Duration: Approximately 2-3 days with phenylpropionate ester. 

Anabolic vs Androgenic Profile: Anabolic steroid; nandrolone has strong anabolic effects with relatively lower androgenic effects compared to testosterone. 

Intended Uses & Effects

Therapeutic Indications:

  • Fenandrol is formally indicated for certain medical conditions such as anemia, especially related to chronic renal failure, convalescence after trauma/infection/surgery, burns, possibly other catabolic states.

  • Also for stimulating bone health, potential applications in osteoporosis or conditions that benefit from increased red blood cell production. (Common with nandrolone derivatives.) 

Performance / Bodybuilding Uses:

  • Used for muscle mass gains (lean or bulking phases) 

  • Often valued for faster onset than long‐ester forms of nandrolone, less “lag” time before effects begin to be felt. 

  • Less water retention compared with long‐ester nandrolone (Decanoate) because of the shorter ester. 

Dosage & Administration

Typical Dosage (Men): ~200-700 mg per week 

Typical Dosage (Women): lower; some sources suggest ~50-100 mg/week to avoid virilization risks. 

Injection Frequency: Because of the short ester, more frequent injecting is usually required (every 2-3 days or every other day in some protocols) to maintain stable serum levels. 

Side Effects, Risks & Precautions

Common Side Effects:

  • Virilization in women (acne, hirsutism, voice changes)

  • Suppression of endogenous testosterone in men due to feedback inhibition. 

  • Potential for fluid retention (but reportedly less than with long‐ester forms)

  • Not for use in pregnancy or during lactation.
